New York New York
Hello from sunny New York, blog fans! I’m currently sat in a Ben and Jerry’s bar somewhere near Times Square, which is the only place I could find that would sell me net access.
I arrived at my hostel last night after 15 hours travel, soaked through with sweat and utterly running on empty, but feeling good. Harlem is a really exciting place and it looks exactly like the movies said it would. New York subways look just like the ones in Silent Hill. Basically, modern culture has prepared me for life here.
Somehow I thought it would be a good idea to go out last night, but my night was cut short when a bouncer decided that my passport was fake and wouldn’t let me in to the club. I thought I was going to get arrested for a bit, but he let me go with my passport intact and I headed home instead. I nearly fell asleep on the subway and realised that it was 5am in the UK by the time I got home. I slept about as well as expected and woke up today tired and sweaty. Thankfully the hostel has a pretty damn good shower.
Today I decided to head out to mid-town and wander about aimlessly. I ended up on Broadway, and then Times Square. I think I’m going to head over to the Empire State building to see what that’s all about now. I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to do with my evening, the only people I’ve met in my hostel leave today so I guess I’ll be out making new friends.
No photos yet because I don’t have my USB cable with me. I don’t have many good ones anyway, I promise I’ll go on a mission and get some out to you soon.
