Unusual Events

Last Saturday at work was an unusual one.

I work in a fairly classy bar. It has a dress code of sorts, and the drinks are pretty pricey. Our clientele is, largely, the rich and those pretending to be rich. While it’s quiet, the bar is extremely civilised, but when it gets busy, the place turns a little more interesting. Despite the appearance, people can get a little feral there.

We have a fountain in our cocktail bar. It’s pretty big, you can sit on it and put your drinks down there. I have no doubt that it’s got a wealth of broken glass at the bottom. On Saturday night, two guys decided that the right thing to do would be to get naked and go for a swim. Yeah, that’s right. Classy cocktail bar, naked guys swimming. Brilliant. My supervisor calls me over and says “Errr, mate, you’d better get a mop.”.

Later on in the evening, my supervisor comes in again with a basket full of blood-soaked towels, and tells me to pull some gloves on and throw them out. Some girl was chinking glasses with her friends and managed not only to smash one but to slice her wrist open in the process. I’ve never seen so much blood. One of my friends had to clean up the table, which I didn’t see, but I hear it was quite a sight.

This kind of stuff happens all the time, and as I say, we’re pretty decent. I can’t imagine the stories that must come from some of the more dodgy bars.
